In this section, the river presents itself very open and linear again, which will surely satisfy every paddler. Most of the eddies can already be seen from afar and thus won’t be a surprise. You paddle through the Ennstal valley, passing the two big bridges of the federal road B320 and the motorway A9 as well as the village of Selzthal in the direction of Frauenberg, where you reach the Zwirtner Lake. Now, the riverine vegetation becomes denser and more natural again. You will surely be impressed by the mouth of the Paltenbach stream, because it is certainly one of the natural highlights of this stage. This spot is a well-known natural place of recreation and it invites you to stay and relax.

But, when it comes to paddling, you should be alert at the mouth of the Paltenbach stream, because the river constantly changes its course here and therefore this part is slightly unpredictable. Under normal circumstances, however, there should be no major difficulties to pass this section in the main current. Having passed this section of the Enns, you reach your next destination: the bridge of the Glasbachweg path near Frauenberg. Here you have the option of shortening this stage or ending your river tour.

However, you won’t regret it, if you continue your Enns river tour, because now, an astonishing view of the impressive mountain panorama of the Gesäuse National Park opens up in front of your eyes. These unique and beautiful impressions will surely inspire you and stay with you as a lasting memory. For approximately 6 km this panoramic view will be your companion until you reach the exit in Admont. To securely use this exit, you have to pass the bridge in Admont and paddle to the mouth of the Eßlingbach stream.

From now on it gets very sportive and only experienced long-distance paddlers should accept the challenge of this last section. If you have the necessary skills, you will get to know one of the most beautiful, but also most challenging sections through the natural Krumau at the gates of the Gesäuse National Park. The current is considerably stronger here and you should pay special heed to intersections of eddies so that you don’t keel over.

At the Laufer Bridge you’ve reached the end of your Enns river tour. The exit is on the right side.

CAUTION: Those who are ready to die can of course keep on going and choose a certain death by drowning at the inlet to the Gesäuse. Those who do not like that thought should definitely end the river tour on the Enns here and remember it as an awesome experience or start again from the beginning.

Access

Between Wörschach and Aigen, directly after the bridge of the Enns cycling path, there is a narrow road leading alongside the right side of the river for approximately 100 m. Then you arrive at a gravel car park at the mouth of the Gulling stream, where you can easily access the Enns.

• after 21 km: Ardning - Frauenberg (bridge of the Glasbachweg path), bus stop at the bridge
• after 27 km: Admont, on the left side after the road bridge, by the Eßlingbach stream
• after 34 km: Laufer Bridge in Krumau – here you have to exit the river at all costs
